Need advice we travel to jamaica met some so call friends several events occurred?

while in jamaica met up with a guy friend it turns out we are not interested in each other , so the weekend passed and and went ok now on monday he does not tell mi he is going home for good to another city in jamaica (inwhich is fine ) so i had somethings in the car that were mine i later called him adn said hey u said u would be back but its been four hours (keep in mind he lives in a city 2 hours away) i just ask can he bring mi my things or we meet and i get them or he mail them to me . he will not answer any calls i feel like he scam this up to see if he can get whatever he could get and once he saw things were not going his way he took off, what can be done about my personal things ! should i contact local police will they at least do something about it , please no one tell me just take it as a lost i am really thinking this guy may keep doing this to people its not right "misleading people to try and get what u can ..any advice is appreci, i am seriously thinking about calling the local police .
